The Denga Story

The word “Denga” is from the Shona language of Zimbabwe and translates to mean “what you see when you look up; the sky or the ceiling”. To me, this also represents the spirit and nature of my company and the optimism with which I like to approach each project. Denga Designs, LLC provides Residential Architectural and Interior Design services to referral clients in the Boerne, Comfort, Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and Junction areas.   My scope of project experience ranges from small additions and outdoor feature areas in the low $100,000 range, to $5 million custom homes. Since relocating from Galveston County in 2003, my family and I have lived in the Texas Hill Country. The boys and I enjoy many outdoor activities – hunting, fishing, camping, water and shooting sports. I am inspired daily by the humor my boys provide and by the unwavering love and support of my best friend, who happens to be my husband of more than 30 years. I am also really enjoying filling the pages of my passport and instilling the love of travel in my kids. When you open your eyes to new cultures and experiences, you expand your world view and broaden your perspective. Life is an adventure….let’s go!

The Denga Difference

  • Communication – I listen objectively and effectively to what the client wants, and have no desire to build a monument to myself. I am also an effective facilitator between the Client and the Contractor.
  • Artistry – I utilize sketching as a communication tool to help the client visualize the project during the design phase. Although I have many years of Auto Cad computer production experience, I rely on my hand-drafting and drawing skills, because I find it to be faster and more effective at communicating the nature and quality of a space or structure. I find it very helpful to be able to sketch an idea on paper while standing on-site with a client, for immediate feedback.
  • Construction Administration Skills – In addition to Residential projects, I have worked on large Commercial and Hospitality projects and understand the flow of information between Architect and Contractor. I am also comfortable on a construction jobsite, and proficient at acting as quality control on the Client’s behalf.
